This Is Our Story

Pacific Jewell is a family-run business, led by husband and wife team Taua Paul and Vivienne Phillips.  What began as a home-based craft business over 25 years ago by Vivienne, a local artist, has now grown into a thriving enterprise, including two stores and a garden café.

Located in Samoa – the heart of the South Pacific - our gift shop and gallery showcases a range of high quality gifts for any occasion. A blend of traditional Samoan and modern designs, our unique handicrafts, fabrics, home-ware, artwork and jewelry are crafted by our own local artists using locally sourced materials. Since opening in 2008, our vision has been to provide unique and innovative gifts that evoke themes from Samoa, yet are adaptable to your living space. Traditional yet conventional, you can introduce the natural beauty and tropical themes of Samoa into your living space. Our work is of the highest quality.

One of our main goals is to promote a unique brand of ‘Made in Samoa’ products  and support our local communities  hence almost all of our creations including our handicrafts, clothing & fabrics are lovingly hand-made in Samoa. We employ a host of craftsmen and women in the rural communities as our suppliers, in addition to our own Pacific Jewell in-house artists.

Our Garden Café was set up in 2012 and is now a fixture as one of the most popular eateries in Apia providing the highest quality food in the most beautiful tropical setting. Located right next to the main gift-shop at Levili, amongst our lush tropical garden, it has been described by many on Trip Advisor as an ‘Oasis’, ‘Serene’ and ‘Beautiful’.

It is our desire that as you visit with us, you will encounter and experience a genuine part of our Samoan heritage and creativity that we are very proud of. We offer you not only our finest quality merchandise, but also an experience to view first-hand how we create our very popular ‘elei’ fabrics and by arrangement, our local carvers at our main shop location at Levili, Apia.
